You can have fresh homemade bread in a hour with this easy recipe. Irish soda bread has no yeast in it. That means no proofing, kneading, or rising time, just mix and bake ! The basic ingredients in Irish soda bread is flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk. The buttermilk and baking soda together provides the bread’s leavening. The addition of cranberries, walnuts, and orange zest give this bread hint sweetness.

1)My bread took exactly 45 minutes to bake, ovens my vary. To know if your bread is done, tap the bottom of the loaf, it will sound hollow when done.
2)If u don’t have buttermilk, just mix together 1 3/4 cup whole milk with 1 Tablespoons + 2 teaspoons white vinegar and let it set for 5 minutes before using.
3)When I took my bread out of the oven I brushed it with melted butter and let it cool for 20 minutes before cutting. It was delicious warm with a cup of coffee.
Orange-Cranberry-Walnut Irish Soda Bread

Yields: 1 loaf
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time:45 minutes
4 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into 1/2-ich dice
1 3/4 cups cold whole milk buttermilk
zest of the medium oranges
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet by lining with parchment paper.
Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Add cold butter to flour while mixing on low speed, mix until butter is mixed into flour.
With a fork, beat buttermilk, egg, and orange zest together in a measuring cup. With mixer on low slowing add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture. Combine cranberries and chopped walnuts with 2Tablespoons of flour. Mix into dough. Dough will be very wet.
Dump dough onto prepared baking sheet with floured hand pat dough into a round loaf. Lightly cut a X into the top of the bread. Bake bread in preheated oven for 45-55 minutes. Let bread cool 20 minutes before baking. Enjoy !
